‘Periferic 2002 Space & Art-Rock from Hungary’ contains ten tracks from different albums, showing what a diverse nature of talent is on the label. I think that I have only reviewed five of the albums on show, and of the others four are artists not known to me. D Sound open proceedings with an instrumental that is all about interplay and power, darkness and light. Of all of the songs on the album this is the only one taken from an album not yet released so I look forward to that with great interest. After Crying make an appearance of course, as do other bands that I have raved about in the past such as Colorstar and After@all (see review earlier). Each song is so different from the next that it is impossible to pick out which is best (although I am still a huge fan of You and I’s “Ancient Light”). This is an interesting introduction to Hungarian progressive rock and one that I heartily recommend.
