2013 progressive psychedelic psychedelic

Enlarge this picture! The 11th album from the legendary, tribal, psychedelic, ethno band from Budapest. Nothing surprising, Korai Orom are playing the beautiful „music of the non existing worlds” since 1990…with practically the same concept and line- up: the magic ethno sounds produced by the fuyara, jew’s harp, throat singing, the psychedelic keyboards, the pulsing, tribal drums and percussions with the massive, powerful and minimal basslines. On this recording the guitars produce occasionally some louder sounds as well as playing the usual ethnic tunes.

2010 psychedelic ambient ambient

Enlarge this picture! Beyond the well-known dynamic drum and base percussion beats (Viktor Csányi, Zoltán Kilián, János Jócsik, Zsolt Nádasdi), Péter Szalay’s scrapey, rather ethereal and at times metallic guitar melodies are also key features of this album. Naturally, unique tunes played on a fuyara and Jew’s harp by Miklós Paizs also spice up the typical, forever renewing „Korai” melodies, to which the lead singer Tibi Vécsi adds a little something extra. The new keyboard player, Gábor Borosi, once again reproduced an ambiance invoking the atmosphere of psychedelic, electronic, acid parties.

Gábor Borosi - keyboards
Viktor Csányi - drums
János Jócsik - percussion
Zoltán Kilián - bass
Zsolt Nádasdi - percussion
Miklós Paizs - fuyara, whistle, jews harp

2009 progressive psychedelic psychedelic

Enlarge this picture! The band was formed around 1992. It was the first band in Hungary using video- and slideprojections as an integral part of the performances, which were followed by 'acid parties' : also a new thing in the early 90-es. KÖ plays improvisative music, named by the media 'urban folk, earth psychedelics, action-music, the folk music of non-existing folks'. The band has 'developed their own signature sound' (Wayside Music, USA), which elements are world music, presented by instruments like fuyara, didgeridoo, jew's harp, Tuvian khömei voice; modern dance rhythms played live by the drums and many percussions, and psychedelic guitars and keyboards. KÖ was choosen twice the concert band No:1 of the year as per the public vote of the Hungarian magazine Magyar Narancs. The secret of its success is the live and improvisative performance of music, usually played on computers and the live videomix supporting the show. KÖ is popular far beyond the borders of Hungary. Since 1993 the band tours with success in Europe and besides many clubs and fests of Western Europe they visit places like St. Petersburg (Russia), Kosova and Macedonia. The most acknowledged European world music magazine Folk Roots, (UK) called the band 'original post-folk, psyhedelic, trans-out Hungarian ravers'. The band has released nine albums which also received warm welcome on the international scene. Their music was released by German and Dannish labels, licenced for many compilations (incl. by Sony Germany), used for movies, theatre pieces and CD-ROMs. Their videoclips were nominated for different awards (for example by the B-Film festival in Berlin).

Their ingredients of this rich mixture are tribal percussion, pagan flutes, shamanist trance rock, ambient soundscapes, bizarre hungarian voices harmonising with burning guitar leads; it’s all in there.
