Trio Calamona has devoted the past decade to a branch of jazz which integrates elements of different people’s folk music with contemporary music, and mediaeval troubadour tunes – that lend themselves extremely well to improvisation. This approach later became known as ’world music’. The band found the songs of the French trouvére-king Charles d’Anjou, many of which are included in this CD.
