Whiteful Jazz Quartet was formed in 1997 from some students of the Jazz Department, Music Academy of Budapest, under the leadership of guitarist Attila Csikós (The name of the band is a word-game, a Hungarian word written in English. It means: "very good musical ear"). In 2003 appeared the first CD of the band with the title "Future in The Past". „In Our songs we tried to merge the elements of folk songs of the Middle-East European area nad contemporary music into modern jazz. The art Of Béla Bartók, Mick Goodrick, Bob Mintzer, Steve Khan, Brandford Marsalis, Pat Metheny, and Joe Diorio made an influence on our music. Voice plays an important part: in one hand it gives a traditional vocal function with words, on the other hand we use it like an effect and as an instrument which playing solos, too.”
The quartet appears regularly at various festivals, clubs and events in downtown Budapest and other major cities. They had great success playing at the events of the Frankfurt Bookfair, Germany in 1999. Since 2000 they are regularly invited to play at one of the biggest summer music festivals in Central Europe, at the 'Pepsi Island' (Pepsi Sziget).
