The love of Hungarian folk music has had a fundamental influence on the lives of the young musicians performing on this recording. Though they have not been raised in the village setting, the result of frequent meetings and their personal contact with the old village musicians can be heard here: these young musicians have learned the material , and made their masters’ knowledge their own. A continuum of the amazing world of music is demonstrated by the fact that in addition to the music of the Csallóköz, Mátyusföld, Gömör and Bodrogköz areas, musicians from Abaúj and singers from the village of Magyarbőd – ’masters’ with whom they maintain a close relationship – were invited to perform on this recording.
