Esoteric Recordings are pleased to announce the first ever official UK release of the self titled album by Welsh Progressive Rock outfit QUICKSAND. Hailing from Neath in South Wales, the band was the original group of bass guitarist WILL YOUATT who was to join fellow Welsh Prog Rockers MAN prior to the recording of the band’s sole album for Pye Records’ Progressive imprint, Dawn. Released in 1973, the line-up of QUICKSAND’s only album was JIMMY DAVIES on guitar and vocals, PHIL DAVIES on bass and vocals, ROBERT COLLINS on organ, mellotron and vocals and ANTHONY STONE on drums and percussion. Whilst having some musical similarities with MAN, the music on QUICKSAND revealed the group to be fine song writers, with highlights including ‘FLYING’, ‘TIME TO LIVE’ and ‘SEASONS / ALPHA OMEGA’.
