The Koala Fusion quartet endeavors to find its own sound based on experimental music
integrated with free improvization. They made a co-production with Kurtág György. This
material contains recordings of their first meeting and their own quartet compositions
based on strong conceptions. Compositions include written, arranged, and practiced parts.
Still, the listener hears free music. The musicians are improvising through the
compositions. During the free improvizations with Kurtág György the musicians are using
compositional tools to understand each other and develop the musical process then the
improvised parts are going to be organised. The improvisor tries to approach the
complexity of a composition, inducting meaning and message to the music. A composition
is successful if the listener feels it is spontaneus and fresh. The justification of the
compositional environment is pending, as well as the existence of musical systems during
spontaneus improvizations. In these recordings the experimental quartett tries create the
same effect with their compositions, and with free music with Kurtág György's help.
